Biography
As the daughter of military parents and growing up on military bases from Sasebo, Japan to San Diego to New Orleans, exhibiting good manners and social graces were a part of everyday life for Tangela Ray. She credits her parents with teaching her valuable lessons about how people are treated based on their manners, and Tangela’s passion for doing what is socially right was born out of those lessons.
The certified Etiquette Consultant believes that etiquette is the glue that binds everyone together. She doesn’t just talk the talk, but she walks the walk as a living example of what she teaches in her etiquette workshops. Tangela is devoted to helping women “become the complete women they envision” and gets joy from seeing them realize their visions.
In helping women realize their visions, she has realized her own vision as an inspirational speaker, newspaper columnist, and author. She is a member of the National Speakers’ Association, the former etiquette columnist for The Memphian, and the author of the soon to be released book, 101 Things Every Black Woman Must Know, Have or Do and a contributing author to Walk In Your Purpose, which will be released February 7, 2014.
Additionally, Tangela is a certified Montessori teacher, personal shopper, image consultant, and the publicist for Sana Butler, author of Sugar of the Crop: My Journey to Find the Children of Slaves.
Her past clients include: Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Eternal Life Church of God in Christ, Anointed Faith World Church, CBT Unlimited LLC, and several schools within the Memphis City and Shelby County School districts: Northhaven Elementary School; Vance Middle School; Shadowlawn Middle School; Frayser High School, and Southwind Elementary, as well as too many individual clients to list. Passionate about service, and helping others become the best versions of themselves, Tangela facilitates workshops designed to nurture and empower the human spirit.
